This is my Pepère. He passed away on January 1st, 1978, a month before my 10th birthday.
I was young when my Pepère passed away. I thought he was a BIG man. I can remember our last new years eve party at his house, he took my hand in his and I remember thinking WOW Pepère has big hands. Now people tell me he was short, but to a almost 10 year old... he was tall.
My Pepère had a service station in Minnow Lake. To this day, whenever I go to a service station for a fill up, the smell brings me back to my visites with Pepère. He always had a Pop and a Chip for us.
New Years Eve Parties where big for him. That's what I remember most, going to his place, everyone singing "les chanson a reponde" People drinking, laughing, singing and dancing. The house seem so full of people. If you just stood there you could feel the house bounce and see things on the piano moving. I always thought one day that floor would give out and we would all end up in the basement.
I miss my Pepère and wish I had had more time with him. 9 years is just not enought.
